BAA (Business Associate Agreement)
Contract between a HIPAA covered entity and a vendor that processes PHI on their behalf. SLAtech executes BAAs only on the Enterprise tier where SLA-backed single-tenant infrastructure supports the underlying control requirements.
Co-pay
Patient's fixed out-of-pocket payment for a covered service. SLAtech AI Medical's pre-visit chat surfaces estimated co-pay based on insurance details — reduces front-desk billing-question load.
DSR (Data Subject Request)
GDPR Article 15-22 right enabling EU patients to access, correct or delete their personal data. SLAtech ships a DSR portal in the admin platform; medical-record exports run in Markdown / FHIR / PDF formats.
EMR / EHR (Electronic Medical / Health Record)
The clinical system of record. SLAtech AI Medical integrates with major EMR / EHR systems via HL7 v2 / FHIR APIs to read appointment slots, write back booking outcomes and pull patient context.
FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources)
HL7 standard for healthcare data exchange via REST + JSON. SLAtech AI Medical ships FHIR client libraries for Patient, Appointment, Practitioner and Encounter resources — ready for integration with FHIR-conformant EMRs (Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, Athena).
FHIR Appointment resource
HL7 FHIR R4 Appointment resource models a scheduled slot — Patient + Practitioner + time + serviceType + status (booked/cancelled/fulfilled). SLAtech AI Medical queries Appointment resources to quote live slot availability — generic chatbots scrape stale calendar exports.
FHIR Patient resource
HL7 FHIR R4 Patient resource carries demographics (name, birthDate, gender), identifiers (MRN), contact info, and administrative metadata. SLAtech AI Medical queries Patient resources at intake to pre-fill known data; never displays patient identifiers without identity-verification flow.
HIPAA
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (US, 1996). Regulates handling of protected health information (PHI) by covered entities and their business associates. SLAtech AI Medical is BAA-eligible on the Enterprise tier with a single-tenant deployment option.
HL7 v2
Legacy healthcare messaging standard still dominant in most hospital systems. SLAtech AI Medical supports HL7 v2 ADT (admit / discharge / transfer) and SIU (scheduling) messages for clinics running pre-FHIR EMRs.
ICD-10
International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision. Standardised diagnosis codes. SLAtech AI Medical's intake assistant can structure symptoms to ICD-10 candidate codes for clinician review — never auto-diagnosed.
No-show
A scheduled appointment the patient doesn't attend. Industry no-show rates run 15-30%. SLAtech AI Medical's reminder assistant reduces no-shows by 30-50% via tiered reminders (1 week, 24 hours, 2 hours) with easy re-schedule replies.
PHI (Protected Health Information)
Any individually-identifiable health information held or transmitted by a covered entity or business associate. SLAtech AI Medical ships ingest-time PHI redaction — national IDs, medical record numbers and EU phone formats masked before any LLM call.
Patient intake
The pre-appointment workflow capturing reason for visit, insurance information, symptoms and history. SLAtech AI Medical's intake assistant conducts structured intake conversations in Hebrew / Russian / English, then hands a summarised clinical context to the practitioner.
Patient portal
Web-based system letting patients view records, request appointments, message clinicians. SLAtech AI Medical's assistant complements (does not replace) patient portals — handling the conversational interface where portals are forms-only.
Pre-authorization
Insurance approval required before certain procedures or medications. SLAtech AI Medical's assistant guides patients through pre-auth documentation requirements and status checks; does not submit claims directly.
Recall
Proactive outreach to patients due for preventive care (annual physical, screenings, immunisations). SLAtech AI Medical surfaces recall lists from EMR data and runs structured outreach via SMS / WhatsApp.
Sub-processor
A third party that processes patient data on SLAtech's behalf — our AI model provider (LLM inference), Sentry (errors), Cloudflare (CDN / WAF), SendGrid (email). Full list at /en/sub-processors/. Transfers governed by SCC 2021/914.
Symptom triage
Routing patients to the appropriate level of care based on symptom severity. SLAtech AI Medical surfaces triage suggestions (urgent care / scheduled visit / self-care) with a confidence score; never replaces clinician judgement.
Tele-medicine
Clinical care delivered remotely via video / phone. SLAtech AI Medical's assistant schedules tele-medicine slots, sends platform invites and handles pre-call check-in workflows. Compatible with Doxy.me, Zoom for Healthcare, Microsoft Teams.
UPL-adjacent (clinical)
Symptom-triage queries that approach unauthorised practice of medicine. SLAtech AI Medical recognises symptom queries and routes to a human-confirmation step rather than letting the assistant diagnose. Same protective pattern as Legal UPL safeguards.
Walk-in vs appointment
Clinics often blend booked appointments with walk-in capacity. SLAtech AI Medical surfaces walk-in wait time (live, from EMR data) to pre-visit chat and routes appropriate cases to scheduled slots vs walk-in queue.
ePHI
PHI in electronic form — what the HIPAA Security Rule regulates. SLAtech AI Medical encrypts ePHI with AES-256-GCM at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Audit log of admin actions covers ePHI access events.
